Design Vision and Architectural Transformation
The collaboration with Sugarhouse Design + Architecture focused on creating an environment that perfectly captures the Alice + Olivia brand identity while offering customers an elevated shopping experience. According to Stacey Bendet, founder, creative director and CEO of Alice + Olivia, the partnership resulted in a space that feels both iconic and timeless while introducing completely new elements. "Working with Sugarhouse, we created a space that feels iconic and timeless, but also completely new. It's about giving our customers an elevated experience that surprises, delights, and inspires," Bendet explained.
Exterior Design Elements
The store's exterior features a striking cherry-red mosaic painted in Benjamin Moore's Heritage Red, creating an immediate visual impact on Madison Avenue. The facade is further enhanced with solid brass floral medallions handcrafted in France, adding an element of artisanal luxury that sets the tone for the entire shopping experience.

Interior Design Philosophy
Inside the flagship, customers encounter layers of color, pattern, and texture that unfold in an imaginative display. The design incorporates hand-gilded moldings, unlacquered brass and bronze rails, and a turquoise limewash backdrop that creates a visual rhythm framing the brand's ready-to-wear collections. Key centerpieces include a turquoise leather-top table by Mexico City artisan Mike Díaz, a vintage Verner Panton Clover Leaf sofa in cerulean mohair, and a working bar clad in indigo marble and hand-painted rose tiles.
Beyond Retail: The Flagship as Cultural Hub
The Madison Avenue location transcends traditional retail functions by serving as a cultural hub for the fashion community. This fall, the boutique will debut curated vintage pieces and an exclusive line of jewelry designed by Stacey Bendet, both available exclusively at this location. The space will also host collaborations with brands including BROdenim and Farmer's Daughter, as well as trunk shows featuring emerging designers and limited-edition collections.
Global Retail Presence and Distribution
The Madison Avenue flagship joins more than 30 free-standing Alice + Olivia boutiques across major U.S. and international cities, including New York, London, Mykonos, Hong Kong, and Singapore. The brand maintains a robust online presence at aliceandolivia.com and is carried in over 800 department and specialty stores worldwide, including Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, Lane Crawford, Harvey Nichols, and Harrods.

The transformation of the Madison Avenue flagship represents Alice + Olivia's commitment to creating distinctive retail environments that reflect the brand's creative vision while providing customers with exceptional shopping experiences. By blending architectural innovation with brand storytelling, the redesigned space establishes a new standard for luxury retail in the competitive Madison Avenue landscape.
